Taxis for the Access to Work Scheme in Bristol

What Is Access To Work?

If you have either a physical disability or a mental health condition, you may be entitled to government support to help you work. An Access to Work grant can be used towards specialised equipment to assist you at your job, as well as transport to help you get to and from your place of work.

The main aim is to help you maintain employment, and reduce potential absences from work. This grant doesn’t need to be paid back, and won’t affect other disability benefits you may be claiming.

How Do I Claim Access To Work?

Firstly, it’s worth noting that you’ll need to either be currently in paid employment or just about to start work. This means either in regular work, about to start work, or at interview stage. You’ll also need to be a resident of Great Britain and over 16 years of age.

This scheme can be used to fund your travel costs if adequate public transport isn’t available, or if you require a modified vehicle to meet your needs. To check if you’re eligible, and apply for support, you can visit the government’s Access to Work page.
